The President and CEO
John Q. Baumann is President and Chief Executive Officer of Midmark Corporation.
Prior to holding this position, Baumann joined the Midmark Board of Directors in 2009 and was named Chairman in 2013. He leads the company with a strong focus on Midmark’s vision, values and strategies, which support innovation and growth initiatives to increase the efficiency of healthcare.
A highly skilled and award-winning senior executive with more than 38 years of experience, Baumann, a Cincinnati native, began his career in the Cincinnati office of Arthur Andersen in 1979. He left Arthur Andersen to serve as the COO/CFO of Duro Bag Manufacturing, the largest manufacturer of carrier shopping bags for major specialty retail and department stores. He joined Fisher Investment Group in 1994 serving as Vice President, Corporate Development.
In 1997, Baumann became President and Chief Executive Officer, as well as shareholder of Ampac, a Cincinnati-based global leader in creative packaging solutions serving the retail, food, pharmaceutical and security markets. During his tenure, Ampac increased its size twenty-fold, completed twelve acquisitions and expanded into Europe and Asia, where it now operates several global manufacturing centers.
Baumann has won numerous awards for leadership and entrepreneurship, including the 2014 Entrepreneur Vision Award from the Entrepreneur Organization of Cincinnati and Entrepreneur of the Year from Ernst & Young in 2005. Furthermore, he also brings leadership experience from several corporate boards which currently include Basco, Kost USA, Ocean Accelerator, Inc. and, formerly, Bethesda, Inc., amongst others.
He remains actively involved with organizations throughout the community, including Higher Branches, a charity he and his wife Emily founded to help build community in the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood of Cincinnati. Baumann formerly contributed on the boards of the Cincinnati Museum Center and the Cincinnati Parks Foundation, the latter for which he was a founder.
Baumann holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Xavier University.
Chief Administrative Officer
Sharyl Gardner is the Chief Administrative Officer for Midmark Corporation and serves as Secretary of the Midmark Board of Directors.
Offering more than three decades of managerial and leadership experience, Gardner oversees Midmark corporate strategy; human resources, including leadership development and training; safety; marketing and corporate communications; IT; customer experience; tech service; and guest services.
In 2007, Gardner was hired as Vice President of Human Resources for Midmark to help lead and support corporate strategies for continual growth and global market expansion. She continues to be a catalyst for the company’s ongoing organizational transformation to support these strategies. She previously served as Vice President of Human Resources for Relizon, a document management company, now part of Taylor Communications (formerly Standard Register) in Dayton, Ohio, which employed more than 4,000 people in North America. Prior to Relizon, Gardner spent four years as the Managing Director for Right Management, where she led both the career transition and organizational development businesses in the Dayton region. In her early career, she held a sales leadership position at AT&T, a global telecommunications service provider, where she was employed for eighteen years.
Gardner has a passion for developing leaders in both her professional and personal life. A member of the Miami Valley Senior Human Resources Group and Leadership Dayton Association, Gardner also served as Regional Chairperson for Junior Achievement in the Dayton/Cincinnati area and on the ERA (Employer Resource Association) Board of Directors, which provides assistance to employers in Dayton, Cincinnati, Columbus and Eastern Indiana. She is also a member, mentor and advisor to Professional Women in Healthcare, a nonprofit industry association established to support the development of women as leaders. She is currently a member of the Board of Directors for Home City Ice Corporation headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Gardner holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Dayton.
Chief Financial Officer
Bob Morris is the Chief Financial Officer of Midmark Corporation.
Morris joined Midmark in 2011 and is the executive leader directing the Midmark finance and accounting teams, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, legal, taxation, acquisitions and business development.
With more than 25 years of professional and managerial experience prior to joining Midmark, Morris was Vice President, Finance for BorgWarner Drivetrain Systems, a worldwide leader in automotive automatic transmission components and four-wheel-drive systems. He also served as Chief Financial Officer of Michelman, Inc., a multi-national supplier of packaging coatings and wax/polymer emulsion additives. Morris began his career with Arthur Andersen in their Greater Cincinnati practice where he became an audit manager, serving manufacturing and construction clients with a particular emphasis on start-up companies, acquisition projects and financial consulting.
Morris is a member of the board, nominating committee and finance committee for Dayton-based Community Blood Bank/Community Tissue Services, a leading provider of life-saving blood and tissue to more than 2,000 hospitals across the nation.
Morris holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from The Ohio State University and is a graduate of the Harvard Business School “Owners and Presidents Management” program. He earned his CPA in the State of Ohio.
Chief Technology Officer
Stephanie Muir is the Chief Technology Officer of Midmark Corporation.
Stephanie began her career at Delphi Delco Electronics supporting all General Motors brands and later joined Johnson & Johnson (J&J) where she was involved in surgical robots, instrumentation, connectivity and data analytics. At Ethicon Endo-Surgery, a facet of J&J, Stephanie held many positions, including Harmonic Project Director and Engineer, Research and Development Director and New Product Development Leader. Her most recent role at J&J was vice president of digital surgery where she was the platform lead for the development of surgical robotics systems through a collaboration with Verily Life Sciences: Verb Surgical.
In addition, Stephanie led a cross J&J volunteer effort to increase the number of women in science, technology, engineering, math, manufacturing and design functions called WiSTEM2D.
Stephanie earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Cincinnati and completed co-operative assignments at Delphi Delco Electronics in design, manufacturing, marketing and development.
Chief Operations Officer
Mike Walker is the Chief Operations Officer of Midmark Corporation.
Walker has more than 30 years of experience with Midmark. He was named an executive in 2000 and has held leadership positions in operations, quality assurance, technical service, product development and general management. In his current role, Walker is responsible for leading all areas of quality, engineering and operations, as well as all technology research and development for the company.
A Beta Gamma Sigma member, Mike served on the HIDA Educational Board for five years.
Walker received his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology from Eastern Kentucky University and Master of Business Administration degree from Xavier University.
Chief Commercial Officer
Jon Wells is the Chief Commercial Officer for Midmark Corporation.
As an award-winning senior executive, Wells has more than 28 years of experience in designing, leading and implementing a broad range of corporate growth and realignment initiatives. He has held positions in sales, project management, product management and marketing leadership. Wells played a significant role in Midmark’s rebranding efforts, which included the assessment, customer research, ideation and implementation of Midmark’s new brand identity and standards across the organization.
Using his education in architecture, Wells has dedicated his career to improving the healthcare experience. He has written published articles addressing such issues as efficient exam room and procedure room design, process workflows and effective instrument processing for office-based sterilization areas. Through his thought leadership, Wells has delivered solutions where equipment and design can improve patient outcomes while creating physician office efficiencies and lowering cost.
As a past board member and President of Healthcare Manufacturers Management Council (HMMC), Wells was awarded the Leonard Berke Achievement Award in 2012 and Midmark’s Excellence in Innovation Award for Customer Centricity/Business Model in 2011. Wells is an advocate for patient accessibility standards in medical facilities and has testified regarding accessibility requirements for medical devices to the United States Access Board.
Wells received his Bachelor of Science degree in architecture and Master of Business Administration degree from The Ohio State University.
